The next-generation Infiniti QX50 has been spotted again, following its earlier sighting last month. The marque’s upcoming SUV was previewed by the QX50 Concept that was displayed at the Detroit Auto Show, and as with the earlier test mule, cues from the concept car are visible despite the usual camouflage.
A broad mesh grille and slim headlamps are visible on the car’s front here, resembling the looks of the Detroit concept model. Complementing those are a pair of air intakes which appear to have been productionised from the concept’s long, vertical items, with more conventional-looking foglamps in place of the concept’s LED items along the front bumper’s lower edge.
As seen earlier, the character line goes from the bonnet through the door handles, while the C-pillars are concealed to hide detail differences from the Detroit study. Similarly, the QX50’s window line rises towards the rear of the car, while its roofline tapers downwards for a hint of a coupe-like profile.
Under the hood, the future production QX50 is expected to use Infiniti’s recently-introduced 2.0 litre, variable-compression ratio turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rated at 268 hp and 390 Nm of torque. The QX50 is also expected to include semi-autonomous capabilities, with elements from Nissan’s ProPilot system tipped to feature on the car, which is expected to debut in September.
