🚨 New release alert! Tails 6.18 now offers support for WebTunnel bridges! This helps users in places like China and Russia connect to the Tor network – even when obfs4 bridges are blocked. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g8jByEeX WebTunnel disguises Tor traffic as ordinary web traffic, making it harder to detect and block. You can now request WebTunnel bridges via our Telegram bot. Especially helpful for users in Russia: 👉 https://t.me/getbridgesbot #Tor #TailsOS #Privacy

Privacy and freedom online
About us
The Tor Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We develop free and open source software for privacy and freedom online, protecting people from tracking, surveillance, and censorship. The Tor Project’s mission is to advance human rights and freedoms by creating and deploying free and open source anonymity and privacy technologies, support their unrestricted availability and use, and further their scientific and popular understanding. Tor protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers worldwide: it prevents somebody watching your internet connection from learning what sites you visit and it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location. Tor works with many of your existing applications, including web browsers, instant messaging clients, remote login, and other applications based on the TCP protocol. The easiest way to use Tor is in Tor Browser, which adds additional privacy protections to your browsing experience. Tor Browser protects against cross-site tracking with first-party isolation and browser fingerprinting. Using Tor can also help you access an open web if you're in a part of the world or on a network where sites are blocked.

As an open source organization, the Tor project is committed to collaborating with other open source software communities to make FOSS more effective and user-friendly for everyone. Our collaboration with the only true open source CRM, CiviCRM, has led to several notable improvements in the CiviCRM software, including: the upcoming release of CiviCRM standalone, flexible premium options that make it easier to track donor gifts, and usability improvements to the “view contributions” page. By actively participating in the development of open source technology, we ensure that our needs are addressed and that different FOSS tools continue to evolve to meet the demands of users like us. https://lnkd.in/gq8T2T-V

"We are in a narrative war. And disinformation is not just about moderating content and fake news, it's also about the lack of truthful information. And technology is a key component of who is going to win that war." 📺 Watch the full interview with isabela F.. Thanks Funding the Commons for inviting us to Berlin. 💜
Most people don’t think of opening a browser as an act of resistance.🌐 But Isabela Fernandes from The Tor Project reminds us that infrastructure is never neutral. The tools we use decide what’s visible, what’s tracked, and who gets to move freely. In this Open Conversation from our Berlin Forum, she lays out why anonymity is civic technology—and how small choices, like saying no to cookies, choosing a privacy-preserving browser, or skipping the login, can help push back against systems built to watch.

The The Tor Project just released Oniux, a game-changing security tool that uses Linux namespaces to force all application traffic through Tor. Unlike traditional solutions, Oniux provides kernel-level isolation that prevents even accidental data leaks. Perfect for journalists, researchers, and privacy advocates who need rock-solid traffic isolation. #SecurityLand #SkillsLab #TOR #Oniux #TorProject #OpenSource #Network #Linux #NetworkIsolation Read More: https://lnkd.in/dFgszpZs
