  • What can we learn by breaking down AI referral traffic leaders by category? David F. Carr, Senior Insights Manager at Similarweb, shares his perspective: "The results of our analysis reflect the strongest digital brands, or at least, what AI considers the strongest, in each category. For those looking to sell online, Similarweb’s tool can help uncover the types of prompts users are entering that drive traffic to sites like Amazon, The Home Depot, real estate portals like Zillow, and lifestyle brands like ZARA, as well as to their own websites. Naturally, the traffic winners are those welcoming AI chatbot attention, rather than blocking it. For example, in the News and Media category, The New York Times is suing ChatGPT-owner OpenAI for alleged misappropriation of its content. That leaves other outlets, like Yahoo, Reuters, and The Guardian, to capture the lion’s share of AI-driven referrals." Check out the winners by category in the comments.

What percent of Amazon’s traffic comes from AI assistants like ChatGPT? (Hint: it’s less than 0.1%, but it’s growing fast.) Everyone’s talking about how #AI is replacing Google Search and Shopping. The idea is that people will just ask ChatGPT what to buy, get redirected to a product page, and make a purchase. It’s a compelling story, and we may get there, but current data tells a more grounded version. Based on Similarweb’s US Amazon traffic estimates (Jul 2024 to Jun 2025), two things stand out: 1) AI referral traffic is growing fast, but is still tiny. AI assistants drove ~2.4 million visits to Amazon in June. That's a lot, but Amazon.com sees ~2.5 billion (with a B!) visits each month, so AI accounts for less than 0.1% of total traffic. 2) ChatGPT is running away with it. It accounts for 90%+ of AI-driven Amazon visits. Perplexity has faded, Copilot and Gemini are barely visible, and Grok feels more like a passion project. So yes, AI commerce is coming. But it’s still early days. That said, I recommend brands start tracking AI traffic to stay ahead of the curve. You can find it under 'referral' in Google Analytics. Are you tracking it already? What have you observed?

  • At a recent IIRF roundtable hosted by Similarweb, we explored how Investor Relations leaders can navigate national identity, market sentiment, and corporate narrative—all at once. In a panel including our VP of Invester Relations, Rami Myerson, CFA, Daniel Amir (eToro) and Talia Sessler (MAX STOCK | מקס סטוק) shared firsthand insights on how to balance the “home country story” with what truly sets a company apart. Ron Klein from the Tel- Aviv Stock Exchange brought valuable macro context, showing how Israeli markets have outperformed despite ongoing challenges. A big thanks to Iris Golani for organizing, and to everyone who joined for a candid, high-impact discussion on what really drives investor perception.
