It's a tale of two Michaels at the #Kubernetes NYC Meetup earlier this week! Michael Levan hosted a hands-on workshop and walked us through what AIOps can do in DevOps and platform engineering. Slides are shared with attendees and here are a few takeaways from the session: 1️⃣ Understanding data structures and graph theory puts you ahead of the AI curve 2️⃣ #AIOps is a combination of performance prediction, learning, and augmented coding 3️⃣ Put your architect hat on when using tools like Claude Code and never just accept the defaults! Our CTO Michael Guarino followed up with a demo on Plural's new DevOps co-pilot that can provide: 💡 Automatic insights and app code-level troubleshooting 💬 Natural Language ops to query infrastructure 🤖 Agentic workflow for DevOps The crew even got to hangout on the terrace for a bit before the rainstorms kicked in 🙌 A special thank you to Company Ventures, Kendall Mellana, and the team at Company You Keep Hospitality for hosting us in the gorgeous space! We'll see you all in August :) #k8s #nyctech #meetup

Even a heat wave can't stop us 🔥 Thank you everyone for coming to the Kubernetes NYC meetup this week! Here are some photo highlights and key insights shared by our guest speaker Dr. Marina Moore: 🗃️ Containers on their own don’t isolate workloads! 🛡️ Technologies for the foundation layer, application kernel, and virtual machines (VMs) can add isolation to containers. Examples include Linux kernel features, gVisor, hypervisors, and confidential computing. 🏆 Currently, hypervisors and confidential computing provide the strongest isolation capabilities against container breakouts. 🔒 If you’re running multi-tenant environments or handle sensitive workloads, you should be using isolation. Huge thank you to Douglas Regal, C-J. Ford, and the team at JLL & Raise for hosting us in your beautiful office 🙏 We will see you all next month! Got a #kubernetes topic you want to discuss or hear about? Let us know 👇 Until then, stay cool~ #k8s #nyctech #meetup

Here are the takeaways from our panel on security & operations from the #Kubernetes #NYC meetup last week. Thank you to guest speaker David Bravo of Crane Security for sharing your knowledge! 🔍 Dependency management headaches: Teams are drowning in CVEs and third-party dependencies within their clusters. These external dependencies introduce significant risks, forcing companies to vendor dependencies and commit precious engineering time to maintenance. We discussed how platforms that improve dependency visibility and facilitate cluster upgrades can greatly ease this pain point. 🔐 Why #RBAC gets so complicated: Implementing strict access controls is often challenging because of the domain-specific language in Kubernetes and numerous services supporting clusters. David pointed out how he regularly finds unexpected paths to cluster compromise through default permissions to services like #GitHub or #ArgoCD. Multiple variables and entry points to clusters make implementing least privilege RBAC difficult. When securing clusters, you need to consider in-cluster permissions AND cloud environment permissions simultaneously. 🛠️ There were a few recommendations for security tools, including #Prowler, #Kubehound, and #Trivy. They can help to quickly surface critical issues in Kubernetes clusters. 💡 A key insight: treat services external to your cluster (and externally exposed services within your cluster) as untrusted to prevent the most significant security risks. Shout out to Michael Guarino, David Bravo, and Aaron Smallberg for the informative session! And a big thank you to our investor Primary Venture Partners for hosting us in your event space. 🙏 What Kubernetes security challenges are your team facing?
