Interestingly Huong found that common data destruction methods in Vietnam are reformatting and physical destruction which aren’t the industry best practices. Huong sees herself an advocate and advises end users the proper way of data destruction; and reviews and advises on data security policies that protects business integrity and customers’ privacy. CYBERSECID CONFERENCE (CSID) Two weeks ago, I had the privilege to be invited to the CyberSecIndonesia Conference, one of the premier cybersecurity events in Indonesia. It brought together professionals from various sectors to address pressing challenges, share insights, and discuss best practices in navigating today’s dynamic threat landscape. . The conference kicked off with a strong keynote by Pak Tjahjo Khurniawan (Ministry of Defense), who delivered “Cybersecurity at The Crossroads: Safeguarding Indonesia's Strategic Digital Ecosystem.” A wake-up call on how crucial it is to build resilience at a national scale. . It was then followed by a nostalgic yet forward-looking session by Pak Budi Rahardjo (ITB), who shared “From ID-CERT to AI-SIRT”, highlighting how cybersecurity response has evolved and will continue to evolve with AI. He proudly wore his ITB hat and made sure everyone noticed it. 😅 . David Bochsler (KnowBe4) shed light on “AI and Human Error”, reminding us that awareness training remains key—even in an AI-driven world. He shared video deepfake himself, very interesting. 👍 . Pak Rio Sibuea (HashiCorp)’s session on “From Risk to Resilience” emphasized the importance of identity-driven controls in securing modern infrastructure. . And Dean Mcdonald (Appdome) shared “Fight AI with AI”, addressing how to protect Indonesia’s mobile economy from AI-generated threats. . Beyond the stage, it was great to reconnect with old friends and peers. I met Pak Budi Santoso K (Argo Manunggal Group) again, always a pleasure to exchange stories. 😂 . I also ran into Mas Edwin Lunando (Bukalapak), yes, my former colleague and actually the one who interviewed me years ago! 🙇♂️ . I met Pak Budi Cahyono (Pacto DMC). I learn alot regarding tourism business, especially from IT perspective. Thanks for sharing Pak. . And of course, the ever-energetic Mas Zikry Zakiyulfuadi (DANA), who introduced me to a table full of Telkom University 2002 alumni—what a small (and connected) world! 🙌 . The exhibition floor was full of energy. I had a chance to explore booths showcasing innovative cybersecurity solutions. It’s humbling to see how fast technology is evolving, and equally important to stay aware of the new threats that come with it.
