🚀 Ark is thrilled to welcome Jaron Thompson to the Modeling team! Jaron is a chemical engineer with expertise in hybrid modeling, Bayesian optimization, and dynamical systems. His doctoral research focused on combining physics-based models with machine learning to guide experimental design and optimize complex biological systems. Jaron brings a powerful blend of computational depth and practical modeling experience. He holds a Ph.D. from UW–Madison and both M.S. and B.S. degrees from Colorado State University.

🚀 Ark is thrilled to welcome Arunraj Balaji-Wright to the Modeling team! Raj is a computational engineer with deep expertise in physics-based modeling and numerical simulation. At Stanford, his doctoral work advanced fast, high-fidelity solvers for nonlinear transport phenomena in complex environments. Raj brings a powerful blend of theoretical depth and practical implementation. Raj recently completed his Ph.D. from Stanford, and earned his B.S.E. from Princeton.

We had a great time at BioProcess International 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 last week! Our CTO Zheng took to the stage to share how we're reimagining bioprocessing with high-fidelity virtual models. 🔬 Zheng presented how hybrid simulation engines can capture both explicit and implicit process dynamics—making it possible to run most experiments virtually instead of physically. He outlined 4 key requirements for a successful bioprocess model: 1️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Cell culture is highly sensitive; models must capture everything that could impact outcomes. 2️⃣ 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Simulation that accounts for process interdependencies over time.  3️⃣ 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 – Vetted equations that work across cell lines and processes. 4️⃣ 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Speed unlocks iteration, learning, and innovation. Zheng showcased how Ark’s simulation engine delivers on all four—and how it’s already helping teams optimize, characterize, and scale their processes.
