by Chris Tilly

Summary:
A gangster rapper and a foul-mouthed Scottish comedian aren't the first people who spring to mind when you think of The X-Files, but in one of this year's strangest casting decisions, Xzibit and Billy Connolly have signed up to star in a new celluloid incarnation of the series. After the excellent final episode's heart-pounding final revelation, you would think they would make this movie about the alien invasion. I mean, what the hell, we practically had a cliffhanger for a series finale and our only hope was to get a follow-up movie...and after all these years of waiting, we finally get our movie and it's a STAND-ALONE STORY?

I cannot express how much this frustrates me as a fan of the series, but alas, I will see this in theaters anyway and I hope that it is up to par with some of the series better stand-alone episodes.

Sounds great. The Black Oil was overplayed. Yeah, it was the series main mythos, but honestly, it was the standalone stories that made the show.

Anyone that's seen Connolly in Boondock Saints knows that he doesn't necessarily need to be playing comic relief. He's a talented guy and I'll be interested to see what he's doing.

I think it will be very interesting considering that they are three different people. They are also great actors. Xzibit is a great actor even if he is a rapper. That's what X-files is all about. They usually put in a really surreal life of characters, but I hope they won't take so much film that it leaves the original duo in the dust. I doubt that'll happen. The first movie was okay, but not good as one of the season 1 episodes. Those episodes were directed by a number of directors, but I think Robert Mandel directs pretty good. He was one of the original episode directors. Maybe Chris Carter should have him direct it. Can't wait to see what happens.

X-zibit being cast worries me, but as I huge fan, the stand-alone feature is a good move and doesn't bother me. Make this X-files movie for everyone, then movie franchise the sh*t out of it so I can see X-files movies for many years to come.

I agree with ignesper...don't get it twisted most rappers cannot act, but Xzibit's pretty good. That's why he had his own TV show and he's already been a couple of movies. I believe this movies gonna be great and it's gonna deal with Mulder and Scully when they both were still FBI Agents.

The general history of casting for XF movies has been that those cast are also huge fans of the show. If Peet, Connolly, and XZibit also fall under that category, then they'll most likely do their best to do justice for their favorite show.
