Kia might prefer to call it an "MPV" (for "multi-purpose vehicle), but in terms of market segment, the Carnival is effectively the automaker's minivan offering.

What’s New for the 2025 Kia Carnival
A new, optional turbo-hybrid powertrain arrives in the 2025 Kia Carnival. The hybrid engine offers 242 horsepower, 271 pound-feet of torque, and improved fuel economy over the standard, non-hybrid Carnival.
Further, both hybrid and non-hybrid Carnival models boast a refreshed exterior, complete with a larger and more distinctive grille. Some new interior tech, including a digital driver information display and over-the-air software update capability, keep the Carnival on the cutting edge of the minivan (or MPV) segment.
Design
Kia calls it "Opposites United," but the key feature of the Carnival’s new design theme is its enlarged grille. The MPV aims to look more like an SUV than a minivan, but that distinction is ultimately up to the buying public.
The Carnival Hybrid will receive exclusive aerodynamic 17-inch wheels. Cube-like headlamps flank the front corners of every Carnival, and amber-colored “Star Map” daytime running lights add some 21st-century flair to the latest Kia. At the rear, you’ll find smooth sheet metal and clean lines, with wide-spanning taillights situated above Kia’s new-as-of-2022 logo.
Powertrain
A 3.5-liter V6 engine remains the standard fare, churning out 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. New for 2025, the Carnival will join the Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica in offering a hybrid option as well. The available turbo-hybrid powertrain employs a 54-kW motor and develops 242 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque, although all-wheel drive (AWD) still isn’t on the table. The Carnival is front-wheel-drive (FWD) only.
Kia also promises tech like its “Electrification-Vehicle Motion Control” (E-VMC) system for improved performance and fuel economy. Additionally, the hybrid Carnival offers E-Handling and E-Evasive Handling Assist, technology aimed at delivering enhanced driving dynamics.
Interior
The Kia Carnival has had an impressive interior since its 2022 debut. For 2025, the futuristic vibe continues, with three-dimensional effects and ambient lighting throughout. Ahead of the driver, a curved panoramic dual-display features full digital instrumentation, and an available Full Display Mirror and head-up display offer enhanced visibility.
While many vehicles offer voice-recognition technology, the spacious Carnival offers it across multiple zones, adding another layer of convenience. Finally, the popular (and impressive) VIP Lounge Seat package with relaxation mode for second-row passengers returns in the 2025 Carnival.
Technology
A next-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) technology offers faster processing power, and it powers the Carnival’s touchscreen infotainment system. Additionally, Kia is heralding a new Connected Car Rear Cockpit (ccRC) system for rear-seat entertainment. This option features dual 14.6-inch monitors.
Available tech options include Kia’s Digital Key 2.0, which allows drivers and select passengers to use their phones as virtual vehicle keys. Finally, over-the-air (OTA) updates for staying up to date with the latest features are included in the Carnival’s software package.
Safety
Safety is a critical component for minivans (or MPVs), as these vehicles are often used for transporting families. Standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with additional features like Junction Crossing and Evasive Steering Assist can be found on every 2025 Carnival. Further, Kia offers Highway Driving Assist 2 as optional equipment, and navigation-based adaptive cruise control and intelligent speed limit assist are also available.
Pricing and Release Date
The 2025 Kia Carnival is expected to go on sale in the summer of 2024. As of this writing, Kia has not announced pricing for the 2025 Carnival or for its hybrid trims. The 2024 gas-only Carnival ranged from $33,600 to $42,300 (MSRP) before options. We expect to see the 2025 model tick up a bit from those numbers, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see a top-trim Hybrid priced close to $50,000.
