Scandinavian Functionalist Ceiling Light, 1950s

About the Item

This wonderful and rare flush mount ceiling light is a standout example of the Nordic Functionalism from the 1930s, a design movement that sought to merge beautiful craftsmanship with industrial production, making quality design accessible to the broader public. The fixture features a beautifully blown opaline glass shade with hand-applied red linear detailing that adds a vibrant, graphic contrast to its soft, rounded form. The flower-like contours and symmetrical vertical ribs give it a sculptural quality, making it a standout accent. A polished chrome mount completes the look with understated elegance. Perfectly scaled for entryways, hallways, or restrooms, this ceiling light offers a warm, diffused glow and an authentic and warm presence. The lamp is in good vintage condition with light patina consistent with age. It features a standard E27 socket (US-compatible) and supports bulbs up to 60W.
