MODULES & LEARNING
- Eco-Engineering (20 credits)
An opportunity to build your knowledge of environmental issues, including recyclable material selection, design for minimum power used in process, minimum material required (FEA), and design for manufacture and assembly.
- Green Computing Strategies (20 Credits)
Consider the processes necessary to manage the changes which allow organisations to operate more sustainably. You will review existing strategies and develop new strategies for different organisations.
- Green Computing Technologies (20 Credits)
Investigate and identify technologies which enable an organisation to reduce their impact on the environment from an information and communications technology perspective.
- ICT & Environment (20 Credits)
Explore the tools and techniques to measure the methods available. You will study the ways in which outputs from those measurements define an organisation's ICT-related energy consumption.
- Project Management (20 credits)
Develop your understanding of the key concepts associated with project management - primarily the planning, organisation and control of resources in order to move a specific task, event or project toward completion.
- Research Practice (20 Credits)
We will develop your awareness of the methods and skills which are required to carry out masters' level research successfully, and to reflect critically on your own development within this area of study.
- Dissertation (40 Credits)
This is an opportunity for you to engage in research and advanced scholarship in a subject area that is appropriate to the course, but of your own choosing.
- Option Modules (20 Credits)
Critical Perspectives on Information; Mobile Application Development; Intelligent Systems and Robotics.
This is the first course of its kind to run in the UK - you will work with academic and technical staff who developed the University's Green IT strategy, and who implement many of the technologies addressed in the modules.
Our academic staff are actively researching in Green IT, ethics and change management, including grant-supported projects to measure the energy use of ICT systems and to develop low-energy networking systems. In addition, we have strong links with industry, through membership of the British Computer Society's Green IT Specialist Group, and have run conferences in the subject.

Dean, Faculty of Arts, Environment and TechnologyWe aim to provide innovation in curriculum, engagement with current industry practices and standards, and to give our students the experience of working with staff whose research has national and international reputation.
- Mohammad is responsible for the strategic leadership of the Faculty of Arts, Environment and Technology,having joined our University in June 2011 from the University of East London. A well published researcher, with over 50 refereed conference and Journal publications, his research profile includes many funded research programmes including JISC and EU FP7 projects. Mohammads first degree was in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He then went on to complete a PhD in the 'Design, Development and Evaluation of Multimedia Based Learning Systems' at Kingston University.
