JSTOR is a not-for-profit service that includes full-text content of more than 1,400 academic journals, as well as thousands of primary sources. Our ultimate long-term objective is to make JSTOR available to everyone who wants access to it, while doing so in a way that ensures sustainability of the service.
To accommodate the different research and teaching needs across institutions, JSTOR developed tiered access and fee models, based on the Carnegie Classifications. In developing a fair method to classify institutions, we aim to ensure that similar institutions are grouped consistently while recognizing the institutional diversity in the scholarly community.
