WelcomeWelcome to auditoryneuroscience.com.
This site contains sound examples, color figures, animations, links and other materials to support the study of auditory phenomena. It is intended to complement the forthcoming book
Jan Schnupp, published at MIT Press.
Use the links above to view content associated with each of the topics. Registered users can also post their questions, comments or insights on the site's content pages, or discuss any subject related to the psychology or physiology of hearing on the site's forum. To register (free, of course, and we will never spam you or sell your email), please follow the "Create new account" link on the side bar of this page. Note that this site uses multimedia in both Apple Quicktime and Adobe Flash format. If sound examples or movies do not play on your browser, make sure the appropriate plug-ins are installed, then restart your browser.) Due to Apple computer's deeply unfortunate decision not to support Flash on its mobile device browsers, the Flash animations and applets on this web site will not currently work on an Ipad (at least not unless you install software such as "JailBreak" on that device). Note also that Internet Explorer has the annoying habit of displaying silly "security warnings" of the type "Do you want to view only the part of the web page that was delivered securely?" when some of the pages on this site load. This message displays when a web page on this site ties in images or materials from other parts of the web via the http protocol, which cannot be loaded via https. We have tried to work around this as much as possible, but there are a few cases where that cannot be done. Any such non-https content linked into our pages presents no security risk whatsoever! But you can easily switch this unneccessary and silly piece of security theater off. See here how this is done. Or alternatively you could use a different (better?) browser, such as Firefox, or Google Chrome. ![]() |
