Welcome to our website! The Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology (PLE) is a superb year-round field station, located in Northwestern Pennsylvania on the shores of beautiful Pymatuning Lake, that is dedicated to serving the academic community and visitors from around the world. Our three-part focus is to offer excellent undergraduate courses with highly qualified instructors, to provide the resources to facilitate cutting-edge ecological research, and to serve as a beautiful center for conferences and retreats. For those of you who are interested in the courses we offer, we have a spectacular line-up of field classes and instructors this year. Previous students tell us that we have some of the best courses that they have ever taken! If you are interested in conducting research at PLE, we have a number of spacious modern laboratories as well as considerable land holdings, all within a matrix of extensive public lands. You'll enjoy a peaceful accommodation as well as the social interactions with a diversity of fellow faculty, post-doctoral researchers and graduate students. If you would like to use PLE for your next conference, academic retreat, or class destination, we have a beautiful facility that can hold more than 100 people at a time. Our facilities include cabins, dormitories, a brand new dining hall, lecture rooms, and lots of great recreational activities.
