Add or remove a device from your AppleCare One plan
After you start your AppleCare One plan, you can choose which products you want to cover.
Manage your AppleCare One devices
After you start your AppleCare One plan, you need to add devices to the plan in order to cover them with AppleCare One. You can add or remove devices from your AppleCare One plan in Settings > General > AppleCare & Warranty. Use any device associated with your Apple Account that meets these requirements:
iPhone with iOS 18.5 or later
iPad with iPadOS 18.5 or later
Mac with macOS 15.5 or later
Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 2.5 or later
You start your AppleCare One plan with coverage for up to three devices, and you can add more or change which products you want to cover anytime. If you add your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, Theft and Loss coverage will be included with AppleCare One.
When purchasing a new device from Apple, you can choose AppleCare One coverage for that device. If your plan is already covering three or more devices, you can buy an Add-on Subscription to add the device to your AppleCare One plan.
Add a device to your AppleCare One plan
On your device, go to Settings > General > AppleCare & Warranty.
In the AppleCare One Devices section, select Add Device.
Next, choose the device you want to add.
If the device appears under Ready to Add, follow the onscreen prompts to add it to your plan.*
If the device appears under Action Needed, you might need to complete a device check before it can be added to your plan.
If you don't see one of your devices, tap or click "Don't see one of your devices?" to learn more. If you still don't see your device in the "Not Eligible for Plan" section, you might need to sign in to your Apple Account on that device or pair it with one of your other Apple devices associated with your account.
*If you add a device that has AppleCare+ or AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss coverage, it will be covered by AppleCare One and your previous AppleCare+ plan will be canceled.
Complete a device check for your device
After selecting the device you want to add to your AppleCare One plan, you might need to confirm that the device is in good condition before it can be added. These steps can include a remote device check, taking photos of your device, or visiting an Apple Store for further inspection.
If your device check is successful, follow the onscreen instructions to add the device. If further inspection is needed, you can also schedule an appointment at an Apple Store to help determine if the device can be added to your plan.
If the device is not in good condition, it might be eligible to add to your plan after an Apple-certified repair.
For iPhone or iPad
Start the device check process on the iPhone or iPad you want to add.
If you are required to take photos of the iPhone or iPad you want to add, you will need a separate iPhone or iPad to complete this part of the process. Or, you can have your device checked at an Apple Store by following the link on your device.
Guidelines for the separate iPhone or iPad used to take photos:
You need an iPhone with iOS 18.5 or later or iPad with iPadOS 18.5 or later. Find the software version of your iPhone or iPad
Wi-Fi should be turned on for both devices used in this process.
The iPhone or iPad you use to capture images needs to have a 12 MP camera. Identify the model of your Apple device
You don't need to be signed in to your Apple Account on the device used for capturing images.
Tips for successfully taking photos of the device you want to add:
Choose a flat area with bright, indirect light.
Remove your case, stickers, and screen protector, if damaged.
Clean your device to remove any smudges.
Adjust the screen brightness of your device to maximum brightness.
For Mac
For the Mac you want to add, start the device check process on an iPhone or iPad associated with your Apple Account. You need to be connected to Wi-Fi, and your Mac should be charged over 20% or is currently charging.
The results of the device check will be shown on the iPhone or iPad you used.
For Apple Watch
To complete the remote device check for the Apple Watch you want to add, use the iPhone that your Apple Watch is paired with to start and complete the process.
Understand AppleCare One device eligibility
Device eligibility for AppleCare One coverage might be impacted by several factors, including the following conditions:
The age of your device
A failed device check
The country or region of device purchase
Active service in progress
Marked as lost and Lost Mode is turned on
Coverage by another AppleCare product*
If you are unable to add your product to your plan, refer to the message on your device for more information.
*If your device is covered by an AppleCare Services plan, you need to contact your AppleCare Services vendor for options before being able to add it to your AppleCare One plan.
Remove a device from your AppleCare One plan
When you remove a device from your AppleCare One plan, that device will immediately lose coverage. If you have Add-on Subscriptions, removing any device from your AppleCare One plan will cancel an Add-on Subscription.
Remove a device
On your device, go to Settings > General > AppleCare & Warranty.
In the AppleCare One Devices section, select the device you want to remove.
Select Remove Device.
On the next window, select Remove Device to confirm that you want to remove the device from your AppleCare One plan.
Removing all devices
If you remove all devices from your AppleCare One plan, your plan will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. During this time, you can still add devices to continue your plan.
If you want to immediately cancel AppleCare One coverage for all of your devices, or understand refund expectations when coverage is canceled, learn more about canceling AppleCare coverage.
