but you may want to go grind to level 3 or just give it a few goes. i started with cyrus too and think that's the best route personally. weapons and armor make a huge difference too and there might even be a couple purple chests around that first town.
oh and my last tip is sometimes you'll see where they'll give you a "recommended level" for an area or boss. but from my experience, don't take it as "recommended" take it as "bare minimum" and you'll prob die if you're at that level. try to stay a couple/few levels above areas/bosses and you'll have a way more rewarding/non-frustrating experience.
I would say it expects level 5 or 6. If you fought two encounters you went straight to the boss and didn't look around the dungeon at all. Why not?
