1: when hosting a game, the chatbox reports a network error and all team mates dissappear, meaning I have to finish the mission with bosco. This is not every time, happened the other day once in maybe 5 games. I stopped hosting after that. It also happened once during stage 2/3 of a deep dive.
2: Austria, Europe
3: windows11, rx480, ryzen 1700x, 16gb ddr4, WiFi card is some random one from amazon.
4: I'm not aware of any other wifi or network issues
5: no mods or vpn
6: I checked that nothing else was hogging my network.
I don't host too often so I'm not sure if season 2 had an impact.
Good luck lol.

3. Windows 10, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700F CPU @ 3.00GHz, 16.0 GB RAM, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
4. I am not aware of any other issues
5. a large number of verified UI mods (and some that shuffle stuff around Space Rig or type welcome chat messages), crashes stopped completely after starting in Safe Mode, VPN on selected very close and efficient server
6. nothing I can think of anything
I started hosting a lot before Season 2 went live and due to crashes was forced to play in Safe Mode (since I do not want to waste other's time). Crashes seem to be non-random and happen when 'there is something happening' most often during swarms. Even in safe mode, the game does this strange thing when it freezes just for a heartbeat (which would then stay frozen with mods enabled) and then starts working again.
Not a single crash since I started using Safe Mode. So it's either something purely on my side which just resembles what others are experiencing or there might be some issue between mods and the base game. As I wrote above, even in Safe Mode there are occasional weird stutters so game itself is capable of handling that.
1) I was hosting a Deep Dive, 2 other players experienced the issue but not player #3 (nor myself)
2) Only that Deep Dive, the missions played immediately before and after were fine
3) West coast, USA
4) Windows 10 x64, Intel Core i7 4770, nVidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti, 24 GB of RAM
5) I tether my phone to get Internet
6) No mods
7) No VPN
8) None, first time seeing it happen
9) First time seeing this, unsure if being a Deep Dive has anything to do with it
Good luck hunting this bug!
1) Issue happens only when someone else is hosting
2) BR/South America
3) 20mb internet, no vpn or mods of any sort
4) i7-770k, rtx20270, 16gb ram, ssd, win10.
1) Hosting and client.
2) disconnects: 3+ player matches
lag: hosting, client and solo.
3) NA South East
4) ryzen 9 3900x, amd radeon 6900xt, ssd storage, overclocks enabled
5)50 mb/s; wired connection
6) 90% verified, 5% approved, 5% no mods.
7) no VPN
8) Changed resolution, graphics settings,
9) see: long... sorry!
Long:
1) Hosting and client. I always have my server search distance setting to "Close"
2) disconnects: consistent in 3+ player matches. rarely happens in 2 player games both when hosting and client, solo crashes occur as well. I notice it most when individuals late-join.
lag: when hosting, client and solo.
Happens in most (85%+) of my hosted and joined missions, did not notice a correlation with complexity/length/biome). Mission warnings that spawn special waves (rival, mactera, etc), special FX (volatile guts/haunted cave), or more enemies (H4, 5, modded) seem to be the most affected.
3) NA South East
4) cpu: ryzen 9 3900x, gpu: amd radeon 6900xt, ssd storage, overclocks enabled on cpu and gpu. Removing overclocks yielded identical results.
5) 50 mb/s wired connection
I have noticed a consistent 10 to 20 ms ping increase with friends i play with.
6 )I switch between verified, approved mods and no mods. No difference in result. I have only used higher spawn caps in duos, and i have not yet noticed a difference (read: small sample size)
7) no VPN
8) Changed resolutions from 1440p to 1080p, graphics settings from ultra to medium to low, disconnecting devices from wireless. This made little impact, if any. graphics settings were the most impactful, but resolution was not. Each change was done discretely.
didnt test perf. mods due to mod instability or did not know about the mod.
9) Formatted as [Condition(s) : observed result(s)]
a lot of enemies spawn : lag, disconnect, crash. More enemies correlate with higher likelihood of going from a lag -> DC -> host/client crashing. Swarm warnings (mactera, rival, swarmageddon) result
rival encounters (spawning) : lag, disconnect sometimes (can't correlate why), sometimes crash
rival encounters (in vision) : lag, crashed once. Rival bots/sniper bots aiming can lag the target when there are several target acquisitions from the rival tech.
killing large groups of enemies in a single instant (like grenade) : lag, disconnect (more enemies and tighter groupings of said enemies increase the lag, sometimes to a point of a disconnect or crash. Volatile guts amplifies this A LOT)
entering a new room : disconnect, lag, no crashing (yet). Not a lot of data on this but has happened three times so far...
when loading initially or during a latejoin where another individual joins the session, when a drop pod/deposit point/pump jack/personal drop pod lands : disconnect
switching/using equipment (weapons included): Lag to the individual switching, sometimes drops inputs (no drill when m1, lag when drilling as driller). Happens on pickaxe, scanner and ping tool too (cant mine-cancel as fast either, related or intended?) Spamming m2 (mine) and/or ctrl (ping) will drop/mix/hang up inputs.
dropping/picking up throwables (gems/nodes/eggs, etc) : Lag to the individual picking up item, sometimes drops inputs
throwing throwables (grenades and gems/nodes/eggs, etc): Lag to the individual picking up item, sometimes drops inputs or physics fails to work, minor lag when throwing axe or during axe impact (especially when reload cancelling grenades, axes included)
other notes: Deep dives seem to increase the chances of success. Disconnects and crashes happen frequently in the deep dives for some reason, especially after stage 1.
I tried to make a comprehensive list but I know i am missing a bunch of info that i am just not remembering. feel free to reach out (reply or message). Thanks for looking into this!
Edit 1: added more info to 9), specifically context to tools, ping and pickaxe
Steam games can relay your network traffic if they cant reach the PC they're aiming for through steam servers, but it adds ping and relays through another player in your game/lobby - when they drop or disconnect, so do you.
If anything below doesn't make sense, google the key words - you'll find guides and advice all over the net.
People need to focus on their PC's network settings first - make sure no VPN's, extra network connections like Hamachi and VM's add, no firewalls blocking steam or DRG
One Ethernet or wifi connection only - disable all other network adapters, even virtual ones or ones added by software - windows could route your traffic over ethernet, while steam tries to send DRG over a virtual adaptor from when you installed hamachi 5 years ago and forgot about it. You can set certain networks to a higher priority, linked a guide at the end of the post.
Some antivirus (kasperky free, for example) include a VPN - and that VPN can break games. Ditch it*. VPN's are a last choice, not a first choice - they always limit speeds, and sometimes limit ports and certain types of traffic.
Then focus on your local network. Are you double stacked NAT behind multiple routers, including wifi repeaters? Anything with a login page that gives out an IP address will screw you over here
You need a modem in bridge mode to one router, with nothing between you and that router running DHCP or actively interfering with the network.
Change your routers DNS servers to a well reputed public one like OpenDNS or Google. This can help avoid ISP shaping connections, and find lower ping routes.
Are you using an ISP that does CGNAT? You might need to contact them for a public IP address, or even change ISP.
If you can enable IPv6 and get it working, that can help - steam networking supports IPv6 and can bypass some CGNAT issues (This will not help with stacked routers)
The game is rock solid stable for myself and my group of ~8 people on various hardware,
The only player with issues was a stubborn Texan running a second router as an AP, and he couldnt host games or direct join (Not just DRG, almost all steam games), he was forced to join via other players. Setting his initial modem-router into bridged mode resolved all those issues.
I've got a VDSL2+ modem, bridged to my google nest mesh Wi-Fi router. We haven't had a single game dropout from any players, period.
*VPN's may help some people in very limited cases. Most VPN's are just another CGNAT connection and wont help at all, since incoming traffic still cant reach you.
A decent guide to changing network priority, and where to see/disable extra network connections is here:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-priority-order-network-adapters-windows-10
They dont specifically tell you, but they also show where to change your DNS servers in there as well if you cant change it in your router.
Feel like this is muddying the waters. I'd suggest just filling out what GSG has asked for. We have had enough threads trying to sus out culprits for this issue with all the same t/s advice you listed and more.
We advise all Miners to check their internet setup and troubleshoot when they experience connection issues - and your reply is great for that.
But the connection issues that have been reported and we are seeing after season 02 are not just "some players have a bad internet connection and play on potatoes".
Of course, some of the reports are from players on potatoes - that combined with the fact that it seems to be affecting some players a lot (regardless of their setup) and some players not at all, is what makes it difficult to find the reason behind - and therefore difficult to fix. So we are gathering info! :D
----
To everyone who has responded with info: Thank you for replying and for your patience while we try to find a solution! It is much appreciated.
And to any other Miner who fits the "no connection issues before season 02 - now "connection lost" is my home screen" category: Please reply with the info in the OP. :)

5.) Not particularly the best on either an AT&T connection or through Starlink.
6.) I am using mods, usually hovering around 50 or very close to it (48/49)
7.) I don't use a VPN except in very rare occurrences, but I never have it on when playing Deep Rock Galactic.
8.) I've looked online for any potential fixes, and whatever ones I ended up trying, they didn't fix the lag issues (or if they did, they were only minimal fixes at best)
The main fix I've tried is to try different versions of DirectX on launch, as well as keeping the game in full screen, both of which have shown only minimal fixes (if even that)
After doing some further testing after typing up the original 8 points above here, I attempted to do a couple of missions in offline mode (one which I intentionally left mid mission, and the other one which I finished), I also used two different characters as well, my two go-tos, Gunner and Scout.
I didn't encounter any lag during this particular testing session except for on the map screen when picking a mission (though I believe that was moreso due to mouse position than anything else)
No issues with lagging and etc.
2. happened roughly 2 out of 6 games yesterday and happened once out of 4 games today. (always happened during extraction resulting me missing out on mission complete rewards, very frustrating)

*Anything that could be relevant (Other than "It started after Season 02"): When does it happens? Are there times where it is worse than others?
if it happens, it happens halfway thru a game, never at the beggining, not necesarily preceded by lag, can happen in a normal ping game
