while i agree that smurfing does ruin games like these i don't think a perma ban is a solution.
maybe make the algorithm/matchmaking or whatever you want to call it have it so they only get paired with one another?
At the same time what you're basically asking for is a invasion of privacy to essentially make these few people just not be able to play when they can just very easily make a new account so. . . meh.

even if they do "ip" ban, again all they have to do is contact their ISP and get a new one registered. please use your brain just a little bit before spouting nonsense just because you're this upset with a video game.

i mean what ur asking isnt gonna solve the issue either and can be harder to prove. with placment matches it creates a barrior of sorts ffrom the smurfs and makes it so u have to ban less people. If they would ban every player who u THINK is a smurf then alot of inocents would be banned. And prooving a real smurf can be difficult at times.

Placemnt matches = it takes longer for a smurf to start maessing with peoples games. + makes less accounts that need to be reported couse lets be real alot of em will be too lazy to do the placments.

there are hundreds of thousands of players from Steam to epic to consols you cant just have em all mass banned for smurfing like it sounds u want. Practicly speaking and logisticly its not gonna workout like that

There also isnt a 100% solution to this issue uless you wanna do some major privacy violoations and prove your real and stuff by like sending ur SSN or pasport to the game to play it. and there never will be a way to stolve smurfing just ways to Midigate it

Requesting a new IP from your ISP costs money, which would be a good deterrent. And as a Senior Security Engineer your IP is not an invasion of privacy. IP's are made available by your ISP for tracking you and what you do and what you look at online. IP's bans are a common thing with companies, as a network admin you should know this.

They won't perma ban smurfs, but 1 or 2 week ban should teach smurfs something,.
On repeated offence there should be season ban, later and game mode ban.

But the ban should be on HW ID for all accounts tied to that HW ID, so they cannot create a new, FREE ACCOUNT, and continue smurfing.

Banning on IP is not practical, some people have dynamic IPs and can easily spoof MAC address to get new IP address. Also when they do that, some other person from same ISP could have been banned that didn't do anything.

just perma ban, they're the ones in the wrong anyways

While we're at it, if a team goes triple support in a QP match, everyone on the team should get a 24 hour ban.

it's not spouting nonsense, imagine this, you have a kid , kid does bad stuff, and you don't do anything you don't give him a harsh penalty , what does the kid gonna do? His gonna do it again why because he knows nothing gonna hapen to him no harsh penalty i know what im saying is extremely extremist but at the point we are nowadays its needed to go back to the roots of what we used to have in all games, people getting banned with no second chances and harsh penalties on players that are indeed looking for trouble, why do you think so many people cheat and stuff? Because they know nothing happens they get a what a 1 day cooldown or 30min that's nothing...they will keeep doing it, if you at least make it so they loose all progress they made while cheating by banned interely their account they will eventually get tired of it and jump to another game they can easily cheat and smurf

Also it's not being mad about a videogame , for you it might just be a video game for others it's their hobby it's their freetime and their escape from reality space being ruined by jerks that obviously lack parents and social life with decent people arround

the problem you arnt seeing is there alt accounts that they dont care about progress??? they dont buy skins, they dont grind alot, they dont lord anything. and making a free account just to fight in low ranks.

I have a question on why ur aginst adding stuff to Prevent or slow down smurfing instead of trying to outright ban them instanbtly which is hard todo couse its

A: hard to proove if someone is just good or a smurf at time
B: impreactivle at this scale with the number of bypasses for it

If you make then do progress to get into ranked and ghet put into higher ranks potentially like placment matches then they wont be smurfing as much.
