I mean, technically undertale is just a deltarune AU, considering Toby invented the characters for deltarune first. But yeah they’re made by the same guy

listen Deltarune is a different story of undertale and undertale is inspired by the mother series (and some other games too) and the mother series was inspired by dragon quest and dragon quest was inspired by wizardry and ultima and those games were inspired by early tabletop games and other stuff like that and that stuff was inspired by lord of the rings and other fantasy novels and those novels were based on folklore and myths and religion and so on and that stuff was based on early humans trying to figure out what the hell was going on in the world around us

it's all like this. everything is like this. that's what gerson was talking about with 'stories can be retold. they can be changed.'
