We would like to share a quick update on cheats and exploits and inform you that we’re temporarily disabling Family Sharing. 

As soon as these issues started, we began gathering reports and data to work on fixes and preventative measures. 

Over the past weeks, we have deployed multiple hotfixes that addressed several exploits. 

We are monitoring the situation and will continue our efforts as needed. 

In addition to fixing the causes, we have also taken some direct action against players who used exploits, banning hundreds of players and removing large amounts of exploited Solaris from the game. 

These efforts are currently ongoing: our investigations continue and our banhammer has more work to do. 

We are aware of some other issues caused by cheats and we have fixes in the works that we aim to implement in the next patches. In the meantime, we will continue to take action on accounts you reported via the Request Help option in the game. 

Last but not least, we are temporarily disabling Family Sharing as part of our efforts as we have unfortunately seen this feature abused frequently. We apologize to our players who legitimately used this feature. We are actively working on changes that will allow us to re-enable the system as soon as possible. While we don’t have an ETA to share at the moment, we are aiming to implement those changes within this year. We will let you know as soon as we have a date.

• Added more rock islands in Deep Desert, primarily in the PvE area, to allow for more resources and real estate for base building, effective on July 29th after the Coriolis Storm apex.

• If you encounter a connection issue while crossing between servers in the Deep Desert and leave your ornithopter, it will be teleported to the respawn location, alongside you.

• Ben, if you’re reading this, your base power is out.

• Improved server and client stability.

• Fixed an issue where you could lose connection to the server if you exited the ornithopter after the failed attempt to cross between Deep Desert partitions.

• Fixed an exploit that allowed a player to gain experience using points of interest.

• Fixed a vulnerability that allowed players to duplicate items in social hubs.

• Fixed an issue where you could fail to climb the sides of a small shipwreck and get into a rubberbanded state.

• Improved server and client stability.

• Fixed an additional instance of the issue where players were sometimes unable to travel from Arrakeen and Harko Village to the Overland Map.

• Fixed an edge case issue where inventory items could get missing after travelling between the maps.

• Fixed an issue with invisible inventory items when the player moved the items between inventories and quickly swapped their positions in the target inventory.

• Fixed a vulnerability that allowed item duplication at the Exchange, while trading or in inventories. Visually, you may see duplicated items on your game client, but they don’t exist.

• Fixed an issue where players were unable to connect to the game, receiving the H74 error code message.

Hey there, Sleepers.

We’d like to announce our very first building contest in Dune: Awakening! We’ve already seen some incredible creations that have been shared on our various platforms; these have inspired us to host an event where you can both put those skills to the test as well as win some great prizes, including a Dune: Awakening collector’s box from our friends over at Madrinas[madrinas.com]!

Above is an example of a CHOAM building, created by our resident Funcom architect, Tor Egil. Let those creative juices flow through those stillsuits, and let’s get into it!

For this contest, we’d like to see where your loyalty lies. We want you to build something that screams fealty for Atreides, devotion to Harkonnen, or allegiance to none with CHOAM. Your creation can be a fortress, resting place, or any type of building so long as it fits the theme of your chosen faction. You can mix and match building pieces and decoration, so for example you can use CHOAM pieces in an Atreides themed building. Just remember that we’ll be judging the theming!

We’ll be judging creativity, originality, and how well it fits the theme. The judges will be developers within Funcom. We will also ONLY be judging the exterior of your building. We won’t stop you from unleashing your interior decorator if you so choose, but note that only the exterior will be judged.

The contest will run from now, July 14th 2025, until 11:59pm CEST/6pm EST on Jul 28, 2025. Any entries submitted after that day and time will not be judged. Winners will be announced on August 8th 2025.

Now let’s talk about the fun part. Here’s what you can expect to win for first place, runner ups, and honorable mentions. Note that if you win first place or runner up, we will need to privately contact you to collect a name and address to ship the items;

We will have 3 first place winners. One for the best Atreides build, one for the best Harkonnen build, and one for the best CHOAM (any neutral pieces) build. These skilled architects will receive a LEGO Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter[www.lego.com]! A LEGO Harkonnen ornithopter unfortunately does not exist.

We will have 6 runner ups. Two for runner ups for Atreides, two for Harkonnen, and two for CHOAM. Winners will receive the Dune: Awakening Collector’s box from Madrinas[madrinas.com].

Honorable mentions will not have a specific number from each category, but ones we feel stood out for various reasons. Those featured here will receive an exclusive in-game reward, the Atreides Battle Rifle, that you can bind to your Steam account. First place and runner ups will also receive this!

Once you are happy and ready to submit your building, you can do so a variety of ways. You can share your creation to more than one platform, but it will only be judged one time and won’t count as multiple entries.

We ask that you don’t submit more than 20 photos for your entry. If you are submitting a video, it should be no longer than 2 minutes long. You are welcome to submit both photos and a video of your entry.

Here are some extra rules for clarification.

• No editing pictures (filters, overlaying text, and so on).

• No more than 1 entry per person

• No more than 20 pictures and no more than 2 minutes for a video entry.

• When you submit your building entry, you affirm that it is your own work. You may have help making it, but it can only be submitted once. Please do not submit an entry that you did not make.

• You may use DLC and Twitch drops.

• If you win, we will need a name and shipping address to send prizes to (this depends on if the prizes are physical). Some countries may be excluded depending on conflicts of import restrictions or other regulations.

Dune: Awakening is a big game with a lot of features, so to help make sure you don’t miss anything, we’ve collected some useful tips and tricks for you. 

Listen to the official House Harkonnen and House Atreides radio channels for propaganda and the most popular entertainment. There’s even a channel for the common Dune Men of Arrakis. It helps to take the mind off the constant possibility of death. 

Put your fellow survivors at ease with a wave and thumbs up before inviting them into your Deathstill. 

Practicality is important when it comes to your gear, but why not also stand out with your own color scheme? 

Vehicle colors can also be customized to your liking. 

Access your vehicle’s storage from any storage container. 

Combine abilities and suspensors to leap chasms, scale the tallest peaks, and float elegantly into the sandworm’s gaping maw. 

Your base needs power like you need water.

• Improved client and server stability.

• Fixed an issue where players who disconnected or crashed during a respawn on a different map or server would get a timeout error, preventing them from accessing the game.

• Fixed a rare issue where using vulture mode to cross sector borders in the Deep Desert could cause the ornithopter to fall beneath the terrain and be lost.

• Fixed an issue where sometimes components could fail to spawn in Deep Desert loot.

• Fixed an issue that allowed using rockets to target players out of sight.

Hello Sleepers, 

This letter begins with an apology. 

On Monday the 7th of July, we patched out a layout change to the Deep Desert which caused several areas of the PvE Deep Desert to become PvP enabled. This was an oversight in our development process and internal communications, which led to people suffering an unfortunate amount of lost bases and equipment. 

This change was intended to only occur with the next Coriolis cycle and not impact the ongoing cycle. 

We’re incredibly sorry that this happened and we want to acknowledge that this should have been handled better. We’ve changed our internal processes as a result of this and will be better in the future. 

We are working to reimburse vehicles and items (to the best of our ability) to players who were impacted by this. You can expect the reimbursed materials, items, and vehicle components to show up in the in-game 'Claim Rewards' tab by the end of this week. 

Moving Forward 

As we approach the end of the launch phase, we wanted to take a moment to discuss some of the other issues that are happening in the game. 

Our primary focus, which continues over the next weeks and months, will be to remove all identified exploits (third party cheat engines, client hacks, or in-game exploitation of game mechanics). In addition, we will be hard at work improving the game, adding quality of life features, and addressing critical gameplay issues.   

We have zero tolerance for the type of player behaviour that has an impact on the experience of other players, and we will continue to focus on ensuring that players can enjoy the game as it is intended.  If you see someone cheating or exploiting, please report them to us using the available channels.

We’ve taken action on several hundred players who have abused exploits, cheats and hacks, and there will be more waves of bans coming as we identify further culprits. 

In addition, we have fixed the following exploits thus far: 

• Account/Permission spoofing 

• Building Dismantle Item Duplication 

• Increased Damage/Insta Kill attacks 

• Vehicle Inventory/VBT Item Duplication 

• Vehicle Ownership takeover 

• Projectile weapon rapid fire (rockets from ornithopters) 

• Durability Repair 

We have a team dedicated exclusively to fighting hackers and fixing exploits.  Over the next few patches, they will be introducing additional efforts to prevent exploits by increasing security on several client/server communication layer, performing additional penetration testing against common attack vectors, and auditing our item and inventory systems to make sure they are resistant to item duplication. 

Item & Vehicle Loss 

We apologize to people who have lost vehicles or other resources due to various bugs in the game. These events can be rather thorny to untangle because there is legitimate item loss due to game mechanics, which makes it difficult to identify item loss due to bugs. 

At launch we lacked the tooling and logging to identify and reimburse all circumstances of item loss. But we have been working on improving our tools so that we can better reimburse players for vehicle losses due to bugs. There is a backlog of customer support requests, so we beg your patience when waiting for tickets to be resolved.  Our aim is to resolve support tickets as quickly as we can, including tickets that were closed near launch when we weren’t able to properly reimburse players. If you have lost a vehicle to a bug and require assistance, please submit a ticket in game and include vehicle type, tier, and when/how you lost the vehicle. 

The development team has been also working to address the root causes of the item loss in game. We have a dedicated team focused on mitigating vehicle/item loss on server crashes, disconnects, server mesh transfers, and travelling between maps. 

To our players, we appreciate you and your continued support. We have a lot of exciting things planned for Dune: Awakening and, despite a few bumps in the road, we’re really excited for what the future holds. We hope you are as well!
