Among

Release Date: Tuesday, December 8, 2015
  • Downloadable on PS4
From our Review of the PC Version: A concept like Among The Sleep's is immediately terrifying on a basic human level: It’s the middle of the night, your mother has been abducted, and you're a defenseless infant. Fortunately, you’re a precocious little tyke, able to escape from your nursery and set off on a quest to find her. Among The Sleep is a distinctive experience, and while it doesn’t fully explore how playing as a child really changes the way you interact with the world, it more than succeeds in creating a wonderfully eerie atmosphere full of childlike anxiety, and along the way tackles a serious subject in a darkly poignant manner.

Earth

Release Date: Tuesday, December 8, 2015
  • See it on Amazon for $27.51 (Vita)
In Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space, players will take the role of one of three distinct military classes and fend off hordes of invading giant insects from a third-person perspective by way of conventional weaponry, armored vehicles, jetpacks, air strikes, trip mines, energy weapons, and more!

This definitive version of Earth Defense Force 2 makes its way to PlayStation Vita with a number of improvements and additions helmed by the original developers at Sandlot, including up to four-player online co-op, an entirely new Air Raider class, and a new English dub.

Minions

Release Date: Tuesday, December 8, 2015
  • See it on Amazon for $18.99 (2-Disc Blu-ray Set); or $27.99 (Blu-ray 3D)
From our Review: Minions starts strong but quickly runs out of steam, the film hilarious when the title characters are left to their own devices, but failing when the focus shifts to the less interesting human co-stars.

Ant-Man

Release Date: Tuesday, December 8, 2015
  • See it on Amazon for $17.99 (Blu-ray); or $29.99 (Blu-ray 3D)
From our Review: Marvel delivers another strong standalone film with Ant-Man. As is typically the case with the more effective of the studio’s offerings, Ant-Man works within the framework of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also delivers a streamlined, fast-paced, lively and – frankly – utterly charming story.

Baseball

Release Date: Wednesday, December 9, 2015
  • Downloadable on iOS, PS4, Vita and Xbox One
The sequel to the pummeling puzzler Tennis in the Face, Baseball Riot is a physics-based game where you bat baseballs through twisty levels in order to smash goons in the face and collect stars.

SteamWorld

Release Date: Thursday, December 10, 2015
  • Downloadable on 3DS (Other Platforms in 2016)
The second in a series of games from developer Image & Form Games, SteamWorld Heist is a game about space adventures, survival, and strategic shoot‐outs. Play as Captain Piper and recruit a team of rag-tag robots to explore and scavenge the remains of a destroyed world. Board enemy spaceships and command your crew in a unique variety of turn-based combat, where the outcome is determined purely by your own skills.

FAST

Release Date: Thursday, December 10, 2015
  • Downloadable on Wii U
FAST Racing NEO is a whip-crackingly fast futuristic racing game by developer Shin'en. Choose your favorite Anti-gravity vehicle and become a legend in the FAST Racing Neo league.

This is basically the all-new F-Zero sequel you've been pining for, people. Don't miss it!

Terraria

Release Date: Thursday, December 10, 2015
  • Downloadable on 3DS
Dig, fight, explore, build! Nothing is impossible in this action-packed adventure game. The world is your canvas and the ground itself is your paint.

Grab your tools and go! You can do many things in Terraria: make weapons and fight off a variety of enemies in numerous biomes, dig deep underground to find accessories, money, and other useful things, gather wood, stone, ores, and other resources to create everything you need to make the world your own and defend it. Build a house, a fort, even a castle, and people will move in to live there and perhaps even sell you different wares to assist you on your journey. But beware, there are even more challenges awaiting you ... Are you up to the task?

Lightning

Release Date: Thursday, December 10, 2015
  • See it on Steam (PC)
From our Review of the PS3 Version: Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII takes the kitchen-sink approach in its attempt to cap off Square’s trilogy on a strong note. It wisely throws away the battle system and locations of the previous games in favor of fresh and more interesting mechanics and settings. It also presents a slew of new ideas to the series that call back to everything from classic JRPGs to Skyrim and Majora’s Mask, and even Assassin’s Creed. But in its attempt to kick things up for the final act, Lightning Returns stumbles in its storytelling. Instead of going out with a bang, it sadly ends the trilogy with an muddled and tonally inconsistent whimper.

Devil's

Release Date: Friday, December 11, 2015
  • See it on Amazon for $59.99 (PS4)
From our Review: Devil’s Third opens with such promise. There’s a momentary glint of intelligent commentary on the detached nature of modern war, a slow downward camera pan through a Guantanamo Bay under siege, and a somewhat indulgent solo drum performance by our hero, Ivan, as we’re treated to sepia-washed flashbacks of a history that still haunts him. The thing is, it’s all a ruse. Devil’s Third isn’t thoughtful, subtle, or even entertaining. It’s the kind of soulless, perfunctory action game I fear people judging the medium of video games by.
